Last call for those eligible to submit BR1M form

-

TOMORROW is would be the last day for eligible recipients to hand in their RM500 1Malaysia People’s Aid (BR1M).

Kampung Tunku state liaison officer Kelvin Chong said that out of the 10,000 forms distributed, only 5,500 were completed and returned to the Damansara Utama and Kampung Tunku MCA service centres.

“We do not know why the forms are not returned but we hope it is not because of the wrong reasons.

“We have heard some are told not to hand up the forms or it will be taxable and their assets will be known, this is all not true,” he said.

He said those earning below RM3,000 should apply for it as they were deserving individuals.

To-date, he said more than 60% of submitted applications had been approved, hence the public had nothing to worry about.

“If they are unsure of certain clauses or do not know how to fill up the forms, come and see me; I will help them with it,” he said when met at the Seri Setia wet market in Sungai Way, Petaling Jaya.

He urged those who were still holding on to their forms to submit them soon to the MCA centres before the closing date.

On Jan 16, Chong said the first batch of successful applicants would be receiving their RM500 voucher at the SMK(P) Sri Aman in Section 14, Petaling Jaya.

These applicants, he said, had received letters notifying them of the collection venue and date.

He said the Inland Revenue Board (LHDN) could only accommodate 800 applicants a day in disbursing vouchers.

The remaining applicants who had yet to receive such letters should not worry as the vouchers would be distributed in the span of two months, he added.

Meanwhile in the Teratai constituency in Ampang, its complaints bureau chief Ben Liew said today was the last day they were accepting applications.

“For those who have received their confirmation letters from LHDN, they may proceed to SMK Taman Seraya on Jan 17 from 9am to 12.30pm or 2pm to 5pm, to collect their cheques,” he said.

Liew said Bank Simpanan Nasional, Maybank and CIMB would also be opening up counters at the school during that period for them to cash in their cheques on the spot.

Teratai Federal Development coordinator special officer Husain Bahaudin said the public could check with LHDN on the status of their applications.
