Priceless in Langkawi

Malaysia Airlines and Mastercard treat top spenders on island resort

-

MALAYSIA Airlines and Mastercard recently treated top spenders for their continuous support with a trip to Langkawi Island themed “A Priceless Journey to The Island of Sun, Sea and Sand”.

It was a two-day one-night stay at the exclusive relaxing getaway, The Danna Resort.

Thirty top spenders were invited to this rewarding trip, selected based on the highest spent on Malaysia Airlines flight tickets using Mastercard credit card.

The guests started off their journey from KLIA on Malaysia Airlines, enjoying the national carrier’s award-winning Malaysian hospitality services.

Upon arrival at Langkawi airport, they were greeted with flower garlands, followed by a warm welcome reception at the resort complete with refreshments and a cultural dance troupe performance.

They were later invited to lunch in the Cliff Restaurant, facing the clear blue waters of the Andaman Sea.

On the hospitality agenda was a visit to one of Langkawi’s major attractions, the Panorama Langkawi cable car.

The cable car provides an aerial link from Teluk Burau to the peak of Gunung Machinchang where the Sky Bridge is located. There, the winners enjoyed the breathtaking scenery of Langkawi and its lush tropical rainforests.

The highlight of the evening started when all participants attended the dinner at the resort’s beachfront. The dinner kicked off with a contemporary performance by a pair of synchronised swimmers in the hotel’s swimming pool.

This unique performance earned the biggest applause from the audience for the night.

The guests were then entertained by Joanne Ng, a local band, and Joanne Yeoh, the renowned Malaysian violinist who left the crowd in awe during the dinner session.

Speaking at the dinner, Malaysia Airlines regional vice-president sales (Malaysia) Azman Ahmad said: “Throughout the last five years, we have been working closely with Mastercard to serve the community, promote business and tourism, providing excellent connectivity with our flavour of Malaysian hospitality.

“We thank Mastercard and the top spenders for their confidence and support for Malaysia Airlines. We hope to continue the longterm relationship with mastercard and continue to reward the highest spenders with similar events.”

Malaysia and brunei mastercard Worldwide vice-president and senior country manager Jim Cheah said: “A big thank you to Malaysia Airlines for working together with us, in organising this trip.

“The exclusivity of this weekend, from the premium airline comforts on Malaysia Airlines to the lunch facing the clear blue waters of the Andaman Sea at The Cliff Restaurant and the night’s sunset dinner, is really a taste of the World’s Mastercard unique and priceless experience.

“I really hope you have enjoyed this experience with Mastercard. Thank you once again for your support.”

The organisers also had some dinner games such as bingo to give out prizes to the winning guests.

Subsequently, all the guests were given the chance to become fashion designers and create their very own batik painting as souvenirs to take home.

One of the participants, Tan Sheau Mei said: “My sister and I really enjoyed this exclusive trip.

“This is one of the most amazing trips that I have ever had. It made us feel so special.”

At the end of the night, the top spenders were invited to sit at the beach around a bonfire over shisha and refreshing drinks.

This was followed by a special firework performance lighting up the starry sky as a perfect end to the night.

The entourage returned the next afternoon with fond memories of the exemplary rewarding experience by Malaysia Airlines and Mastercard.

Malaysia Airlines and Mastercard have jointly organised a rewards programme for their top spenders for the past two years.

The event hosted in 2010 was called the Unforgettable Arabian Night, which featured flying the top spenders to Pulai Springs, Johor whilst having the first in Malaysia, stand-up comedy on air.
