Celebrating with the kids
Clown visit and gifts bring joyous cheer to underprivileged children
THE Megawisra Group of Companies (MSB), comprising Megawisra Sdn Bhd, AIMS Group of Companies and Global Transit Group of Companies (GT) has once again brought laughter to the children of the Good Samaritan Home (GSH).
The recent event was held in conjunction with the Christmas celebration at Menara Aik Hua.
There were a total of 80 children, of who 40 were from the home.
This time, the employees brought along their children to join in the spirit of giving and sharing with the less fortunate.
The party was packed with interesting performances that included a magic show by a clown, face painting and a special lunch treat, besides the exchanging of Christmas gifts.
“It is important for us to remember and support the less fortunate.
“That is why this group has even set up a corporate social responsibility team, which demonstrates our commitment in giving,” said AIMS chief executive officer Chiew Kok Hin.
The Group has been particularly supportive of GSH over the years as it houses more than 40 children, ranging from three months old to 17 years.
“It is this age range that the physical and emotional needs are at its climax. It is also this age that a child is shaped to be who they are in the future.
“Thankfully, the founder of GSH showered the children with utmost love and discipline.
“They emphasise on good value and proper education, which is why seven of the grown-ups are pursuing their tertiary education,” said Chiew.
Founded in January 1999 by Pastor Albert Ong and his wife, GSH cares for children from troubled families whose parents have abandoned them, divorced, or had lost one or both parents.
The home seeks not only to provide for their physical and material needs but also to minister to their emotional and psychological needs especially in the light of their broken family background. “The GSH is an NGO which is partially funded by the Government. The home still needs external material and financial supporters like MSB, which has been providing schooling and basic essentials.” said Mrs Ong.
