Freelance event coordinator Wan Alina Rashad, 38, whogrew up listening to Houston’s songs, said she and her friends also had a karaoke session in honour of the superstar.

Her sister Hana Arshad, 44, said she had been listening to Houston’s old albums all week.

“I also found ticket stubs for her concerts which I attended,” said the English teacher, adding that she even incorporated the singer’s songs in her lessons last week.

Meanwhile, in Rock Corner at Mid Valley Megamall, the pop diva’s albums are selling out fast.

The store is planning to bring in more of Houston’s records to keep up with the demand.

“Previously, customers rarely bought her albums even if there was a promotion.

“Now, we have to bring in 20 copies of each album,” said Rock Corner sales assistant Chong Mun Fei.
