Muhyiddin ticks off Guan Eng for arrogance

-

BALIK PULAU: Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng has overlooked the role of Barisan Nasional in transforming Penang and behaves like he had developed the state, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said.

The Deputy Prime Minister added that Lim acted as though he was in possession of a magic wand that could transform Penang without considering Barisan’s contributions.

“He has become arrogant in the last three years. This is what I was informed by many Penangites.

“This information has been gathered from the average layman, not just from Barisan members.

“Penang’s development over the past three years is not only Lim’s own doing. If he is reasonable, he has to acknowledge Barisan’s efforts as well.

“We were the ones who laid the foundation,” Muhyiddin said at a 1Malaysia kenduri programme at Kampung Permatang Tepi in Simpang Empat here yesterday.

He added that Lim’s tendency to sue his critics is a sign of arrogance, saying he noticed many people are becoming aware of this.

On the national leadership, he said voters have responded positively to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and his transformation efforts.

He said the people are beginning to feel the impact of the Federal Government’s programmes.

Earlier, Muhyiddin presented a cheque of Rm1.8bil to Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Tan Sri Nor Mohamed Yakcob as part of the federal funding for the 10th Malaysia Plan here.

Muhyiddin also attended closeddoor meetings with state Barisan and Umno leaders here.

Speaking to some 2,400 teachers in Penang during a programme at Universiti Sains Malaysia here, he said the national education system has room for improvement before it can be on par with the standard employed by institutions in developed nations.
