Announce shadow Cabinet line-up at state level, coalitions urged

-

KUALA LUMPUR: Both the Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Rakyat state governments must announce their shadow Cabinet line-up, said a think tank.

Institute for Democracy and Economic Affairs (IDEAS) chief executive Wan Saiful Wan Jan echoed Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak’s call for the shadow Cabinet line-up to be announced.

He said failing to do so could be seen as a sign they could not reach agreement on who should hold the posts.

This is an indication that the opposition parties may not be able to inspire public confidence.

“Pakatan Rakyat’s failure to announce their federal shadow Cabinet line-up despite an increased presence in parliament is disappointing.

“It is even sadder to see the failure of Barisan Nasional to announce their own shadow Cabinet in the states where they are in opposition,” he said in a statement yesterday.

“Barisan must not allow people to say that they are just the same as Pakatan Rakyat because they, too, have failed to form a clear shadow state Cabinet.

“As we get closer to the general election, the Barisan opposition at state level must not allow voters to say that the Prime Minister is just a pot calling the kettle black,” added Wan Saiful.
