‘When Barisan wins, so will nation’

-

KUALA KANGSAR: Achieving victory in the next general election is not about retaining political power but preserving the country’s future, Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said.

“Victory for Pakatan Rakyat will result in changes to the laws upheld by Barisan Nasional all this while,” he said.

Muhyiddin said Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was trying to replace the country’s seemingly “outdated” laws with Westernised values should Pakatan take Putrajaya.

“He plans to implement neo-liberalism laws with greater human rights. Such laws do not take into consideration our religion and would change the people’s lifestyles,” Muhyiddin said at the 2012 Perak Umno Convention’s closing here yesterday.

With Pakatan having its sights on Putrajaya, he said Barisan leaders at all levels should unite and work hard to face the challenge.

“The next election will be the mother of all elections. It will determine the country’s future and change the political scenario.

“We must ensure Barisan’s victory; to continue the mandate given to us by the people to develop the country further,” he added.

Muhyiddin also said Anwar had neither clarified nor denied his alleged pro-israel statement in The Wall Street Journal.

“If he becomes Prime Minister, he will give recognition to Israel,” Muhyiddin said, adding that Anwar did not respect the Palestinians.
