Kudos to police for its stance

-

WITH reference to the report “Police to go after gang attacking transsexuals” ( The Star, Feb 17), I would like to commend Pahang CID chief Senior Asst Comm T. Narenasegaran for his professionalism in asserting that “transexuals, too, have rights”.

This is truly a recognition that under our Federal Constitution, all citizens, regardless of their gender, race, religion, age and sexual orientation have a right to be protected under the law when they are victims of violence.

The criminals are the people who attack these transsexuals and it is they who should bear the full brunt of the law. MARINA MAHATHIR, Kuala Lumpur.
