YOU would expect the tomoi boxers taking part in the NKRA Youth Rakan Cop Carnival 2012 in Penang to cringe in pain with every punch and kick they received but they didn’t.

They may be normall teenagers but once these boxers enter the ring, it’s totally a different story.

Two of them Asri Lang Buanna, 14, and Mohd Azam, 15, looked the most outstanding during thehe event last week.

Both fought tooth and nail to try to outsmart each other.

According to Mohd Azam, who hails fromm Pendang, this is the third time he has faced Asri in a match.

“But this is the first time I have come out victorious against him.

“I would love to continue doing this for many years to come as this is my passion,’’ said Mohd Azam who has been training for more than 10 years.

The bout between Mohd Shahirun Ismail of GSC Induk Perak and Nak Sukau’s Mohd Nazrul Amin Naseer was equally exciting.

In the fifth round off the match, Mohd Shahirun unleashed a combination of punches to beat the younger Mohd Nazrul, who suffered a cut on his head,, on points.

“I feel so ashamed forr the loss. I had a good career record of 21 knockouts from my previous 26 tournaments,” said Kedahan Mohd Nazrul.

His coach Hider Shamsudin in said the huge difference in weight of the two fighters had been vital in deciding the winner of the bout.

“Mohd Nazrul is only 64kg while Shahirun is 75kg, So the outcome is quite unfair,” he said.
