Security firm’s reign of terror comes to an end

-

SUBANG JAYA: In a bid to secure more business, a security firm based in Kelana Jaya resorted to dirty tactics by harassing and assaulting guards from rival companies.

The plot came to light when the victims lodged a report on the alleged criminal acts.

The firm’s reign of terror was finally put to an end when police detained three men in connection with the case.

OCPD Asst Comm Yahaya Ramli said one of the suspects was the firm’s supervisor, aged 30, while the other two, aged 31 and 39, were Nepalese nationals.

“The suspects are believed to be responsible for four cases of assault and harassment in residential areas along SS19/1, USJ 2/7 and Jalan TP1/3.

“Investigations showed the trio have been going around slashing security guards of other firms and vandalising properties.

“We are still looking for six more suspects working for the same firm to assist us in the probe,” he told a press conference yesterday.

ACP Yahaya said three of the cases occurred on Feb 10 between 7pm and midnight.

He said the suspects had assaulted a rival guard in USJ 2/7, causing him to suffer injuries to his head and legs.

“Armed with a meat cleaver, the suspects then went to SS19/1 to create trouble.

“A security guard there was verbally threatened when he tried to lodge a report,” he said, adding that they damaged several CCTV cameras at the guard post.

On Feb 16, a group believed to be from the same firm was said to have assaulted another security guard in Jalan TP 1/3, slashing him on his head with a parang.

ACP Yahaya said investigations showed that the motive of the attacks was due to business rivalry.

“This is the first time such an incident occurred in the district.

“We have alerted our counterparts in other districts to keep a lookout for similar incidents,” he said.

ACP Yahaya said the three suspects had been remanded and would be investigated for causing grievous hurt, criminal intimidation and rioting.
