Gang of biker robbers held

SUBANG JAYA: A band of armed bikers that went on a robbing spree at petrol stations here and in Shah Alam has been crippled following a series of police raids.

Six suspects, aged between 17 and 29, were picked up at separate locations in the Klang Valley on Friday.

OCPD Asst Comm Yahaya Ramli said police recovered a knife, sickle, sword and machetes, believed to be the weapons used in the heists.

“Police tracked down the gang after viewing CCTV footages that showed their latest robbery last week,” he told a press conference yesterday.

In the 9.50pm incident on Feb 15, two gang members, wearing helmets and armed with parang, robbed a petrol station in Jalan Bakti, USJ9/3.

He said the suspects took money from the cash register and cigarettes.

“They also made one of the customers withdraw RM500 from the ATM,” he said.

“Initial investigations revealed that the gang was responsible for at least six robberies at several petrol stations and a budget hotel in USJ,” said ACP Yahaya.

In PETALING JAYA, residents of Desaria apartment had a rude shock when they found nine cars broken into.

The break-ins are believed to have been committed in the wee hours of yesterday.

Residents who were getting ready for work found their car windows smashed and items, such as coins and Touch n’ Go cards, stolen.

Police reports were lodged.
