Wide range of courses at Sabe

THE School of Architecture and Built Environment (SABE) at Kuala Lumpur Infrastructure University College (KLIUC) is fast expanding.

It boasts its own building which was designed by its lecturers and students.

The building was launched on July 19 2011 by Kumpulan Ikram Sdn Bhd, managing director Datuk Chong Ket Pen.

SABE offers a comprehensive list of programmes such as architectural studies, landscaping, geomatic engineering and quantity surveying.

Currently, there are three departments in the School, namely the Department of Architecture, Department of Geomatic Engineering, and Department of Quantity Surveying.

SABE aspires to produce graduates who are employable and well regarded in the related industries locally and globally.

The Department of Architecture offers the Diploma in Architecture, Bachelor of Science (Architectural Studies), Bachelor of Architecture, and a new programme - the Diploma in Landscape Architecture.

The Diploma in Architecture programme prepares students for a career in the building industry and paves the way for higher studies in the field of Architecture.

Students are exposed to concepts and theories of architectural design, knowledge of building construction and materials and use of relevant computer software which will enable them to contribute effectively to the industry.

The Diploma in Landscape Architecture provides fundamental knowledge in the planning, designing and managing of landscape, both in the man-made and natural outdoor environments.

These environments are created through the artful application of both softscape and hardscape elements to create a quality, balanced and conducive environment.

The Department of Geomatic Engineering offers the Diploma in Geomatic Engineering. Geomatic Engineering is the new name for land surveying.

The programme covers the application of new technologies such as Global Positioning System (GPS), Geographical Information System (GIS), Remote Sensing and Photogrammetry to collect, process, analyse and manage spatial information.

Geomatics is one of the fastest growing IT industries in the world and has applications in practically every discipline and profession that uses earth-related spatial data.

This data is essential in space planning, agriculture management, natural resources monitoring and development, land division and registration, engineering projects mapping and infrastructure engineering projects.

Geomatic Engineers are multidisciplinary in their knowledge and are sought after to contribute in the development of a country. Many KLIUC graduates of this programme are working in established corporations and off-shore companies.

This is testimony of the marketability of this programme.

The Department of Quantity Surveying offers the Diploma in Quantity Surveying (QS).

QS prepares students with a wide range of managerial skills, construction technologies and legal aspects of construction contracts.

This two-and-a-half-year programme aims to produce quantity surveying graduates with a holistic understanding of theoretical and technical aspects of quantity surveying that would prepare them in practising the QS discipline.

The March intake is open for application! Register now and get RM1,000 rebate voucher before March 12!
