A 12-YEAR-OLD girl, whose left foot got stuck in an escalator at a shopping mall in Malacca two years ago, has only used the escalator once since the incident.

China Press reported that Chrisanta Geron Lee’s mother said they took 30 minutes to persuade her to use the escalator.

“She does not want to use an escalator again, so we always take the lift,” she said.

On Dec 27, 2010, Chrisanta was taking the escalator to the ground floor when her foot got wedged in the space between the steps.

The Fire and Rescue Department had to be called to free her foot.

She was later rushed to Malacca Hospital for treatment.

> The daily also reported that a 36-year-old cancer patient, who claimed that she was chased away by her husband’s family after she fell sick, has died.

Lian Siu Ping died a day after her husband brought her back to their house in Butterworth, China Press reported.

Hong Wen Hao took his wife back so she could be with their three children on Thursday night. Lian died the next day. Hong said he had never intended to chase his wife away.

> Sin Chew Daily reported that Hong Kong superstar Andy Lau declined to comment on news reports that he had bought two luxury houses in Jalan Ampang for his Malaysian wife Carol Chu to stay during her confinement.

“I did not read (the report). You should ask the people who wrote the report.

“It seems that they know more than me,” Lau said.

The baby girl is due in June.
