Indonesian shows spot where he was held captive

KAJANG: Police raided a drug lab after arresting a suspected Indonesian drug pusher who was kidnapped for ransom by a syndicate for owing money from the sale of drugs.

It is learnt that the man, in his 30s, who was held captive on the seventh floor of an apartment unit in Sungai Long, was threatened by the syndicate that he would be killed if he did not pay up what he owed.

The suspected trafficker made a daring escape early yesterday morning when he climbed through an open window on the fourth floor before slipping and falling into some bushes on the ground floor.

The man, who ran out from the apartment grounds, was spotted by a policemen in a passing patrol car, who stopped him and took him into custody where they learnt about his drug dealings with the syndicate.

Selangor narcotics crime investigations department chief Asst Comm Nordin Kadir said a team led by Kajang narcotics chief Asst Supt Hngh Ah Leong then raided the apartment at around 8am and arrested four men at the scene.

“Initial investigations revealed that the four-man syndicate acquired the recipe to ‘cook’ syabu from the Internet and had been manufacturing the drug for more than a year.

“When we raided the apartment, we found various chemicals believed to be used to make syabu which had yet to be crystalised for sale,” he told reporters at the scene yesterday.

ACP Nordin said further investigations led to the arrest of another suspect and the seizure of 500gm of syabu worth more than RM60,000 in an apartment at Desa Damai Perdana.

He said police were investigating allegations made by the Indonesian about being kidnapped.
