Bung Mokhtar: Selangor gave garbage collection to dubious firms
A BACKBENCHER alleged that the Selangor administration awarded garbage collection contracts to dubious companies resulting in rubbish not being collected for months.
Datuk Bung Mokhtar Radin (Bnkinabatangan) claimed the state government had replaced Alam Flora Sdn Bhd with crony companies last year.
“Ada suami dapat, isteri dapat (There are some whose husbands and wives were given contracts),” he said when debating a motion on the royal address.
Bung Mokhtar said some of the companies did not even have names or the proper facilities to do the job.
“These companies have left rubbish uncollected and this has made the people angry,” he said, adding that the Malaysian Anti-corruption Commission (MACC) should investigate the matter.
He further alleged that there was a zone in Petaling Jaya where garbage had not been collected for three months.
Bung Mokhtar also claimed the contracts were awarded to the companies even though they charged higher than the previous concessionaire.
“Where is the transparency that the state government has been preaching about? All this is happening despite the existence of the Selangor Select Committee on Competency, Accountability and Transparency,” he said.
Datuk Johari Abdul (Pkr-sungai Petani) rubbished the allegation and invited Bung Mokhtar to accompany them to the MACC office in Shah Alam but the offer was turned down.
