Retired deputy officer seeks long-lost buddy

-

IPOH: A retired deputy cooperatives officer wants to reunite with his long-lost friend who had helped him a lot during the 1940s.

Housewife R. Sumathi said her father A.R. Naidu, 85, misses his friend Kok Peng Loong a lot and hopes to meet up after having been separated for 60 years.

“My father last saw Kok in 1950 before he moved to Johor Baru to become a lecturer.

“He lost contact with Kok and has been desperately trying to reconnect with him,” she told The Star.

Sumathi said her father and Kok met in Teluk Intan where both attended Teluk Anson Anglo Chinese School together in 1941.

She said her father, who came from a poor family, had to stop schooling and sought out Kok to work with his father, who owned a pawn shop, after the Second World War.

“However, Kok advised my father to continue studying. He always talks about how Kok paid for his Senior Cambridge examinations, where both of them obtained Grade Two after the Second World War,” she said.

She said her father was indebted to Kok and realised that he would not have become who he is today without him.

Sumathi said she hoped that Kok or his family members could contact him to meet up.

“My father hopes to meet Kok or his family,” she said, adding that her father who lives in Tapah, can be contacted at 054012232.
