Clean floors, clear mind

-

WITH the recent uncertainty over the supply of foreign maids and increasing awareness to be self-reliant, families in Malaysia have already been relying on quality floor cleaning robots to handle mundane floor-cleaning chores.

One of the key players that helped to popularise robotic floor cleaners in Malaysia with its best selling picabot since 2008 is pioneer status company Corvan Technology Sdn Bhd.

In March 2012, Corvan launched the much coveted Silicon Valley, Us-based Neato XV robot in Malaysia. The overwhelming response saw the first batch of hundreds of Neato robot snapped up within two weeks.

The jewel in the crown of this multiple award-winning Neato robot is the revolutionary laser-based scanning and room mapping system that gives it a high precision 360º view of a room, allowing it to map the most efficient cleaning path by analysing walls, furniture, doorways and other obstacles accurately.

It then cleans methodically in a straight-line pattern and moves around and under furniture.

The result is a floor that is thoroughly and efficiently cleaned in less than half the time of other robots while preventing your furniture or walls from scratches and damage with its contact-free movement.

The laser system also recognises doorways and guides the robot to clean the next room only after it has completed cleaning the first, much like the systematic way of humans.

When the entire floor is completely cleaned, it goes straight back to the charging base.

There is no random movement as it can clearly see and remember where it has cleaned as well as the exact location of the charger.

Neato also has the world’s most powerful robotic vacuumsystemof jet turbine design, pulling IN140CFM of air at a speed of 18.6m/s. It cleans on all floor types.

The efficient methodical cleaning allows the Neato to clean up to a whopping 557.4sqm of floor area with a single cleaning command.

The LCD display and soft button make scheduling the Neato to clean on any day of the week a breeze.

Standing at less than four inches high, the low profile robot cleans under beds, sofas and cabinets.

Another important aspect of Neato robot is its minimalist design that ensures fuss-free use and upkeep. All you need to do is to clear the super size 660ml dust box occasionally when the robot lets you know that it is full.

The electrostatic filter is able to trap and prevent fine dust from flying back into the room.

Running at merely 60 watts, the energy-saving robot consumes about the same electricity as your ceiling fan, compared to thousands of watts of electricity consumption of a manual vacuum cleaner.

Accountant Clarice Lim who bought a Neato a month ago was seen accompanying her sister-in-law Janice Chen to buy the latest Neato from Corvan’s signature store in Damansara Utama.

“I must say Neato is surely the best gadget to help with floor cleaning. It cleans so well with precise movement that our manual cleaning is no match for it,” Lim said.
