KUANTAN: The 15-year-old girl allegedly abducted in broad daylight along a busy street here has been found – at her boyfriend’s house.

Police found Siti Nur Fatihah Mahadi at her 26-year-old boyfriend’s house in Kampung Merchong Pekan, about 55km from here.

Pahang CID chief Senior Asst Comm T. Narenasagaran said upon questioning, the girl revealed that she had been unhappy staying with her parents at their Taman Tas home.

“As a result, she called up her boyfriend to fetch her for an outing.

“This is a case of running away from home and not kidnapping as reported in some newspapers,” he told reporters here yesterday.

On Monday, her siblings claimed that Siti Nur Fatihah was bundled into a car by a man in Jalan Tas 2 while on her way to top up her handphone credit.

They also claimed that although Siti Nur Fatihah shouted for help, they could only watch as the car driven by a woman sped off.

However, OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Jasmani Yusoff had said that initial investigations showed that she might have ran away from home.

SAC Narenasagaran said due to her age, the girl was now under the custody of the state Welfare Department, adding that her parents had been notified.

He said reports of the alleged kidnapping had caused uneasiness among the people.

“Our investigations showed that she did not suffer any injury or ill-treatment.

“We hope family members will refrain from calling for press conferences to give a different version of the incident without checking with the authorities,” he said.

To a question, SAC Narenasagaran said the case would be closed.

It is learnt that the girl has been sent to the Tengku Ampuan Fatimah Children’s Home in Alor Akar for supervision.
