WORLD renowned wedding and portrait photographer Bambi Cantrell will be making her first visit to Kuala Lumpur this weekend to present exclusive seminars.
Cantrell has 25 years of experience in creating exquisite and breathtaking wedding images and formal portraits from around the world. She has authored three best-selling books, The Art Of Wedding Photography, The Art Of Digital Wedding Photography, and The Art Of People Photography.
Regarded as an expert in lighting and posing, Cantrell educates photographers from around the world on her unique styles and techniques that have brought her fame and accolades. She was recognised as one of the 10 best wedding photographers in the world by American Photo Magazine in 2007 and was a winner of the United Nations International Leadership award in 2003. She was also honoured by Wedding and Portrait Photographers International in 2001 with a Lifetime Achievement award.
Apart from being a sought-after guest speaker at workshops and conventions around the world, Cantrell also guest lectures at photography schools around America.
On Saturday and Sunday, Cantrell will be conducting a two-day intensive photography workshop focusing on fabulous weddings and portraitures for 20 photography enthusiasts and and professionals.
Participants will have the rare opportunity to learn contemporary poses for couples and families, and the art of making plus-sized women look good. Through live demonstrations, each student will receive hands-on training on posing the subjects in interesting and flattering ways.
Cantrell will showcase fresh ideas for creating great photos anywhere, and lighting demonstrations using flash and alternative light sources will also be highlighted; students will also have the opportunity of working with models to practise the concepts taught.
On March 25, Cantrell will conduct two masterclass programmes. The first focuses on five ways of taking wedding photography to the next level, including “sculpting” the body using light, posing to flatter any subject, contemporary poses for the modern client, posing groups for fun and profit, and Photoshop art.
The second masterclass focuses on fabulous fine art – that is, learning the art of getting noticed, of capturing great images anywhere, and on creating some of Cantrell’s signature “newspaper dresses”. This course is designed to instruct participants not only in the art of posing and lighting, but also on what makes an outstanding image. Cantrell will also demonstrate concepts in creating sexy gowns from just random bits of cloth, newspapers, and even bubble wrap!
