Family sleeps while home catches fire

KOTA KINABALU: A family slept while flames licked their home, waking up only when they heard incessant screams from the outside.

“Even when I heard the screams, I did not think there was anything wrong,” said Faridah Sedi, 50.

“But when my brother – who lived in a neighbouring house – yelled out that our home was on fire, I woke up,” said Faridah, whose two-storey house in Kampung Sendil in Putatan near here was destroyed in the 7.20am fire yesterday.

“I immediately got all other family members to rush out as the blaze grew bigger,” she said.

“We could not save anything,” she sobbed.
