PETALING JAYA: It seemed like just another afternoon project with in models Desa Park taking City part to rescue in a fundraising fund and re-home stray dogs.

But these were no ordinary dogs. They were all disabled.

Freelance photography model How Pek Ching, 23, said she was amazed at the dexterity shown by year-old canine amputee Rocky as he excitedly ran on three legs around the park.

“It’s a very happy dog despite its disability. These dogs are true fighters,” said How, who was among 14 people who posed for pictures with four disabled dogs yesterday.

Twenty-three photographers paid about RM100 each to take part in the event, which managed to raise RM3,600 for can welfare project Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better (MDDB).

Besides Rocky, which lost its right hind leg in an accident, the other disabled canines in the project were Mr Gwing and Patrick which both suffer from congenital physical disabilities, and blind and mentally disabled disaries Precious that suffered head injuries in an accident.

All four dogs have been rescued, treated and re-homed by MDDB.

Organiser and photography enthusiast Allan Looi said the event was held to support MDDB as both he and his wife Trace Lim loved dogs.

MDDB rescue coordinator Irene Low said the project highlighted that disabled sats dogs would make good pets despite their physical condition.
