Ferrari catches fire at petrol station

-

AMID the attention on Ferraris this week, one burst into flames at a petrol kiosk.

The car was slightly burnt and had to be towed away, while the pump station was damaged and had to be shut down for three hours on Thursday.

The driver of the Ferrari, described as plump and in his 30s, escaped unscathed as he managed to put out the small flames on his pants quickly with a nearby fire extinguisher.

At the Singapore Petroleum Company kiosk in Havelock Road, a pump attendant known only as Prakash said he usually laid a towel under the petrol tank before filling it up to prevent any leakage.

But on that day, the Ferrari driver said it was not necessary.

Prakash, 22, started to fill the tank, but had to leave it to the driver to finish up the job as there

The next thing he knew, he saw flames shooting up from the engine.

“When we saw the CCTV, we saw that he continued pumping the petrol after the auto-pump stopped, and the petrol leaked.

“Maybe the engine was too hot,” said Prakash.
