Making lessons fun and interesting
EVERYONE has his or her favourite teacher. In the last five years, I have been taught by a number of teachers, all of whom have guided me.
My favourite teacher is Encik Asri Mohamed; a tall, tough man who has been teaching me Music since Year Two.
I never really enjoyed the subject and Encik Asri often scolded me for not paying attention during lessons.
Fortunately for me, there were no music exams that year or I might have failed badly.
The following year, he was my Music teacher again. This time, I was more focused and did better in the subject.
In Year Four, I had to learn to use the recorder. It was difficult at first, but I learnt how to use it.
Encik Asri was very encouraging because he knew that I was trying hard. I did well in the exams and even received a trophy.
This year, Encik Asri is my class teacher and is teaching me both Bahasa Malaysia (BM) and Music.
He makes his BM lessons interesting and fun, but when he is angry with us, the entire class is silent.
He also gives us a lot of BM homework.
If we give the wrong answer to a question, Encik Asri will see to it that the corrections are done. He wants our work to be “faultless” because he is a perfectionist. Encik Asri is a great teacher and I appreciate all that he has done for me. AKHILESH MAGENDRA
