Respect work of ‘new artists’
Older generation must learn to appreciate the work of new artists, says expert.
The 146-page art book features the work of several local “old school” artists such as the late Datuk Syed Ahmad Jamal, Abdul Latiff Mohidin, Kartika Affandi and Mansor Ghazali.
The book was launched by the Raja Muda of Perak Raja Dr Nazrin Shah at the RA Fine Arts gallery here on Sunday.
Raja Ahmad said he put together the book to ensure the work of the previous generation was well preserved while embracing a new generation of art.
Nuasa Nusantara is available for sale at the RA Fine Arts gallery in Solaris Dutamas, and priced at RM130 per copy.

Art historian Prof Dr Zakaria Ali admires the work of these young artists and it is the duty of veterans to support and encourage them.
“This is a new era for art as the work of the younger generation is vibrant, colourful, exciting and uninhibited,” he said.
“While our (the older generation) art tends to be about places, stories or incidents, this generation tends to go beyond these boundaries because the Internet has provided them with an unlimited resource of imagery.”
Prof Zakaria, who is also a veteran artist, said this at the launch of Nuasa Nusantara. Art and Liberation, an art book featuring a contribution from him and others, compiled by writer and poet Raja Ahmad Aminullah.
