Najib wants to get to know the people

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has invited his Facebook fans to join the “1 in a Million” campaign to get the chance to meet him.

He said that since his engagement with the social media, the meetings with his fans had helped him a lot to learn of the issues affecting the people.

He had harboured the desire to spend some time with his online friends for a long time, and the best way to do so would be to meet faceto-face, he said.

“After having met with several Twitter followers recently, I wish to meet with my Facebook friends.

“As such, to selectmy lucky online friends, I wish to invite all Malaysians – even you – to join the ‘1 in a Million’ campaign,” he said.

Najib added that those who wish to join the campaign had to just sign up on his Facebook page.

“Do share this with your family and friends! If your invited friend becomes the selected winner, you may stand a chance to come along as their guest. I look forward to your participation,” he wrote in the blog www.1malaysia.com.

On March 21, the prime minister stated his desire to meet and have tea with his one millionth Facebook fan as a token of appreciation for the support of his social media friends over the past three years he has been the prime minister.

Najib first met a group of his online friends on March 13, 2010, at a tea party at the prime minister’s official residence, Seri Perdana, in Putrajaya.

On May 12 this year, the prime minister had a breakfast meeting with four of his Twitter followers.– Bernama
