City council men beat me up over minor road accident, says manager

SERDANG: A manager has lodged a police report against six enforcement officers from the Shah Alam City Council for beating him up after a minor road accident near the Giant hypermarket in Kinrara 5.

Dixon Edwin Pereira, 34, who is attached to a security firm, claimed that one of the officers, who was clad in a uniform, had even used a bamboo stick in the alleged attack.

The incident took place when Pereira’s car hit the back of a van near a roundabout while he was travelling home from Seri Kembangan to Puchong at about 6pm yesterday.

He claimed that since he was in a hurry to send his sick daughter to the hospital, he did not stop his vehicle and did not realise that the van had been chasing his car until he reached a junction opposite the Giant hypermarket in Kinrara 5.

“The van suddenly rammed into my car. Six men, who were all clad in uniform, then pulled me out of my vehicle and started hitting me,” he claimed.

He said the attackers only left when the police arrived.

A witness, S. Thiahu, also lodged a police report over the incident.

“At first, I thought the police were arresting a criminal. However, I noticed that the men in uniform were behaving like road bullies,” he said.

Pereira suffered injuries to his head, hands and back.

Meanwhile in SHAH ALAM, police are looking for a Myanmar national in connection with the gruesome murder of his countryman near a car workshop along Jalan Ampang at about 6.10pm on Monday.

Selangor CID chief Senior Asst Comm Mohd Adnan Abdullah said the victim was killed outside the workshop where he was working.

“Witnesses have told us that his throat was slit from behind by an assailant armed with a knife,” he said at the Selangor police headquarters here yesterday.

Police have found a knife, believed to be the murder weapon.

“We also obtained CCTV footage from a bank located next door to the crime scene,” he said, adding that police had arrested six Myanmar nationals in a series of raids between 7pm and 11pm on the same day.

SAC Mohd Adnan said police were now on the hunt for another Myanmar national, who is known only as Sultan ( pic) and in his late 20s, to facilitate investigations.

“We have yet to establish the motive for the murder,” he said.

He urged those with information on the whereabouts of the suspect to contact 03-2052 9999 or the nearest police station.
