SHAH ALAM: Indra Putra Mahayuddin proved that his career is far from over when his clinical finish helped Kelantan edge Armed Forces 3-2 after extra-time to lift the Malaysia Cup at the Shah Alam Stadium last night.

The 33-year-old former international’s lethal strike in the 96th minute took Forces goalkeeper Mohd Farizal Harun by complete surprise.

“I knew what I was going to do when ‘Piya’ (skipper Mohd Badri Radzi) passed me the ball just outside the box. I have seen how other strikers

I knew what I was going to do ... I knew this was going to be my break. I took a crack at goal and I’m glad it turned out to be the winning goal.

have done it in this situation,” said a delighted Indra, also a member of Kelantan’s Malaysia Cupwinning team in 2010.

“I knew this was going to be my break.

I took a crack at goal and I’m glad it turned out to be the winning goal.”

Indra returned to Kelantan this season after donning T-Team colours last year.

Indra’s attacking prowess has indeed been a key factor in the east coast giants accomplishing the treble.

Kelantan manager Azman Ibrahim said the success was the perfect way to cap their great season.

“Indra’s goal was the icing on the cake for us. We have won the treble. Let the players enjoy the break.

“Armed Forces will be a team to watch in the future. They have proven to be a strong team and have knocked out several Super League teams en route to the final,” said Azman.
