Preparation pays off
MUHAMMAD Azuan Abdul Aziz cited good preparation as the key to his victory in Golf Malaysia’s 2012 Tradewinds Malaysia Ace of Aces Championship at Templer Park Country Club.
Following his win in the A Medal category Muhammad Azuan said: “I came prepared with distances for every hole. I made three birdies and blew only one hole, so I am glad all my efforts paid off.”
Muhammad Azuan (11 handicap) signed for 39 points, while Danavandhan Batumalai (12) secured second place with 37 and Mohd Nor Alias (15) was third with 36.
B Medal winner Azmi Hashim (14) won with 38 points and said: “Overall I am happy with my game. It could have been better, as I had some problems with the yardages.”
Nineteen handicapper Hong Ken Sin clinched the C Medal title on countback with 38 points. He said afterwards: “I am glad to win in my category. I am a pensioner and I cannot play too aggressively. I just played a cautious game, keeping the ball in play and I didn’t lose a golf ball.”
Mazni Yusoff won the ladies’ section and declared: “This is the first time I played in this tournament and I am happy to have won despite my bunker shots being no good at all. But my tee shots were perfect and my short game was also good. I love the fairways at Templer Park, they are like cushions. ”
