Open champion confirms CIMB Masters entry

BRITISH Open champion Ernie Els and big-hitting John Daly have confirmed their entry to the CIMB Niaga Indonesian Masters 2013. The two players will feature alongside some of the finest from the Asian Tour when the event is held at Royale Jakarta Golf Club in Indonesia from May 2-5.

PT Bank CIMB Niaga Tbk will be the title sponsor for the second year and emphasised their commitment to developing the game of golf in Indonesia.

“I am delighted that the CIMB Niaga Indonesian Masters 2013 will once again welcome some of the world’s best golfers,” said CIMB Niaga president Arwin Rasyid.

“Ernie Els and John Daly are not only legends in golf but are also very popular and I am sure their presence will further enhance this premier tournament.

“We are committed to developing golf in Indonesia and strongly believe that this event serves as a great platform for juniors, amateurs and profession­al golfers to aspire to,”

In a statement Els said he was looking forward to the challenge of playing the Jakarta event.

“Everyone who knows me knows that I love playing in Asia and I am excited about returning to Indonesia.

“I thoroughly enjoyed playing in Bali a few years back and I am sure playing in Jakarta at Royale Jakarta will be as good an experience for me.

“My game is coming into form and I look forward to contending in the CIMB Niaga Indonesian Masters 2013”, added the South African star.

Asian Tour executive chairman Kyi Hla Han said: “We are looking forward to the 2013 CIMB Niaga Indonesia Masters with a lot of expectatio­ns.

“In a matter of a few years, the tournament has become a truly world-class championsh­ip and features prominentl­y on the Asian Tour schedule.

“As the premier event in Indonesia, we are grateful for the support from CIMB Niaga and point out that the local media and the Asian Tour’s global television platform will beam the event to over 200 countries and 650 million households.”

England’s Lee Westwood triumphed in the CIMB Niaga Indonesian Masters presented by PNTS this year after completing 32 holes on the final day due to rain delays.
