CHINA Press reported about a 17-year-old girl from Singapore who stopped schooling for a year just to follow her favourite pop stars.

The girl, who completed her O-levels last year, told her mother that she wanted to concentrate on pursuing her favourite celebrities such as Korean boy band SHINee and K-pop icon Super Junior.

Her 50-year-old mother, who only wanted to be known as Chen, said her daughter worked as a sales girl, administrative assistant and also distributed brochures on the streets.

Chen said her daughter spent about S$3,000 (RM9,177) to follow the pop stars and bought merchandise and collectibles.

“She would spend hundreds of dollars on specially-made posters of her idols,” she said.

Chen said she tried to advise her daughter to think of her future, but it all fell on deaf ears.

> Sin Chew Daily reported that a temple medium had reportedly asked a woman to undress on the pretext of drawing a charm amulet on her body to chase away bad spirits.

The woman told the daily that she went to seek advice from the medium at a hotel because she was suffering from a relationship problem.

She said she agreed to take off her clothes in a bathroom and let the medium, who is from Penang, draw a picture of the amulet on her.

“The whole process lasted about 15 minutes. He also touched my breasts,” she claimed, adding that the medium also allegedly asked her to have sex with him, claiming that he was told that it was God’s will.

When the woman questioned him further, he replied that it was to test her sincerity.
