Rich teen takes to crime to please girlfriend

A TEENAGER from a rich family who was caught breaking into an apartment confessed that he took to crime to give expensive gifts to his girlfriend.

Dhiraj Gihani was caught within days of committing the crime together with his friend in Wade Bhavan in Nagpur, central India, last Friday.

Police said the friend had told Dhiraj that his neighbour had gone on vacation and they removed the window grille of the house before stealing items worth Rs60,000.

Dhiraj said his pocket money was not enough to meet his girlfriend’s demands.

They also said they wanted money to gain entry to pubs, Tamil Nesan reported.

On Thursday, the woman was given chemothera­py and was told that she should produce a duplicate copy of the card when she returned for subsequent treatments.

Selvi, 50, a widow who works as a maid, was diagnosed with breast cancer and her employer funded the surgery for the removal of the tumour.

However, she needed further treatment at the government hospital.

He said traditiona­l games such as silambam, kabbadi and karateare were slowly dying.

“It is the responsibi­lity of every Indian to ensure that Indian traditions, culture and games live on for years to come,” Tamil Nesan reported him as saying.
