GEORGE TOWN: The RM100 schooling aid by the Barisan Nasional government is timely, in view of the challenging economic situation.

The parents of about 200 primary and secondary schools students in the Pulau Tikus area were all smiles after receiving the aid.

Anjala Devi Sunthakumaran, 32, said she was overwhelmed by the aid, the second thus far, from the BN government.

“The RM100 significantly lightens my family’s burden,” said the mother of three.

“It is difficult to balance spending for the children’s schooling and daily expenditure,” she added after receiving the aid from Pulau Tikus state assembly coordinator Rowena Yam here yesterday.

In KUANTAN, teachers and parents hoped that the Government would make the aid an annual affair, and

not a one-off.

Sekolah Kebangsaan (P) Methodist Kuantan head mistress Hamidah Mansor said the Government’s effort was meaningful to all.

In SUNGAI PETANI, a student who sat for the Lower Secondary Evaluation examination (PMR) last year thanked the Government for providing the RM100 aid.

“It helped me do well in the PMR,” T. Santhiagu said.

The 16-year-old, who obtained 8As in the PMR, said she bought reference books to prepare for the exam using the aid she received last year. — Bernama
