Barisan rubbishes Selangor MB’S claims of strong support from people
PETALING JAYA: Claims that 60% of the people in Selangor will still support Pakatan Rakyat in the coming general election has been questioned by the Selangor Barisan Nasional.
Selangor Barisan coordinator Datuk Seri Mohd Zin Mohamed said the claims, which were made by Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim based on a study, was just a syiok sendiri (self-indulgence) statement.
He said that the study did not represent the real sentiments of the rakyat in Selangor.
“It is only part of their political and psychological ploy to make them appear stronger as they know that the perception towards Barisan in the state has improved due to the Prime Minister’s transformation plans,” Mohd Zin said yesterday.
“They are getting worried, so they had to come up with all sorts of studies to ensure they look good.”
Khalid, citing a survey conducted by the Universiti Malaya Centre for Democracy and Elections, recently said that the trust towards Pakatan had increased to 60% and that it would continue to rule the state after the 13th general election.
Mohd Zin said Pakatan leaders were also getting jittery as the Barisan election machinery had stepped up its election preparations.

“They can come up with all sorts of studies.
“However, what is important is that there are many indications showing that the people in Selangor have come back to support us. We also have conducted several of our own studies and are confident of regaining Selangor,” he said.
Mohd Zin, who is the Sepang MP, said the studies conducted by Barisan were more comprehensive and had included the views of the younger generation.
“This is because, through our studies, we are looking to resolve several issues including housing, waste management and water problems, systematically,” he said.
“Our machinery conducted various surveys and polls and interviewed people from all walks of life and the response had been positive.”
