Redknapp shock at brutal transfer scrap and Tony’s quit talk on Twitter

-

LONDON: Shocked Harry Redknapp says the current transfer window is “like gang warfare”.

The QPR boss is desperate for new recruits to stop his Loftus Road side slipping out of the Premier League.

Transfer veteran Redknapp is famed for his stunning deadline-busting swoops.

But even he has been left reeling by the chaos that has erupted in this window.

Redknapp said: “This transfer window, you know – I’ve not seen anything like it.

“Every agent is trying to play each other out. It’s like gang warfare out there, it’s scary.

“If you’ve got a deal and you’re trying to get a player, another agent will try and scupper the deal and try and get you to buy his player.

“It’s unreal. I can’t understand what’s going on.”

Redknapp leapt to the defence of QPR chairman Tan Sri Tony Fernandes, who has talked of quitting the club following Twitter abuse.

Ex-Tottenham chief Redknapp insists Fernandes is a good fella.

But he has told the mega-rich tycoon to get off Twitter if he cannot handle the stick.

Redknapp added: “It would be a big blow I think for this club if he ever left.

“He’s a great guy, you couldn’t get a better man than him, so it would be a massive blow if he did leave the club.

“I don’t think anybody is trying harder than him to right what’s gone wrong.

“You won’t get a better guy than him, his heart’s in the right place, they’re very lucky to have a chairman like him.

“The advice I would give to Tony is: Get off Twitter.

“It’s like anything – if you don’t want to know what people are saying, don’t buy a newspaper and if you don’t want to know what people are saying on Twitter, don’t go on Twitter. “That’s the way I see it. “People say to me ‘have you seen that?’ and I’m not interested. If you want to spend all your time seeing what people say about you we’d all be paranoid, struggling to sleep at night.

“He’s pulling out all the stops to get us the couple of players we need.” — The Sun,
