PETALING JAYA: Malaysian screen darling Sharifah Amani Yahya has become a big fan of mobile technology ever since she was appointed celebrity endorser for the Samsung Galaxy Note II.

Since getting the smartphone last month, the multitalented 26-year-old said she has become obssessed with it. “I can do somuch with it and I’m not even the type who’s very clever when it comes to technology,” said the actress who played the role of Orked in director Yasmin Ahmad’s Sepet and Gubra.

Sharifah said the smartphone’s user-friendly features are really easy to handle and it didn’t take long before she was also using the device to read her scripts and to collaborate with her team.

Among her favourite features is the smartphone’s built-in 8-megapixel camera, which records 1080p HD (high definition) videos. Also a short film director and writer — she made the shorts Sangkar and Kampung Bangsar — she can truly appreciate this capability.

It is also fun for her that she can use the device to add creative elements to the videos she records with it, such as slow-motion capture. “It’s great that I have a handy tool that I can use to record my short films,” Sharifah said.

She is so pleased that she is thinking of launching a YouTube channel to showcase her works, and is considering getting into Vlogs (short for video logging), which is like blogging but with the use of videos instead of text.

“This is new for me. I already use social media like Facebook and Twitter to connect with my fans, friends and family,” she said.
