HP storage solutions for midsize enterprises
IT SOLUTIONS provider HewlettPackard Co has introduced a range of solutions under its converged storage portfolio that makes high-end storage platforms accessible to midsize enterprises.
The concept — “polymorphic simplicity” — on which the converged storage approach is based, is one that allows for a single-system architecture to be in various shapes and sizes, and yet has common data services for block, object and file applications.
Under this approach, the innovations by HP include its 3PAR StoreServ 7000 Storage, and StoreAll Storage, as well as HPStoreOnce 2000 and 4000 Backup solutions.
3PAR StoreServ 7000 is a mid-range, quad-controller platfrom that offers Tier 1 storage availability. The system is available in tiered hard disk drive/solid state disk, and all-SSD configurations, with the last one capable of more than 320,000 inputs/outputs per second.
Capable of supporting both file and block data, other features of the system include thin technology that reclaims capacity for other applications when files are deleted, as well as autonomic management tools that ease system deployment, data migration and systems integration.
Improvements
Meanwhile, StoreAll Storage is a hyperscalable unstructured data retention and cloud storage solution with the capacity to retain up to 16 petabytes of data. It consists of 1,000 storage nodes within a single capacity pool and has object and file storage capabilities.
The system’s integration with the HP Autonomy Intelligent Data Operating Layer (Idol) allows it rapidly analyse data using less compute hardware.
Finally, for data backup and protection, HP has added new models to its StoreOnce Back-up portfolio, and is making the system accessible to small and medium enterprises.
According to the company, its 2000 and 4000 Backup models, with support for deduplication software HP StoreOnce Catalyst provides efficient data movement and high-performance deduplication to reduce data protection costs in remote sites and datacentres.
HP claims the solution improves backup throughput by 100 terabytes per hour. All the solutions are already available.
Pricing for the 3PAR StoreServ 7000 system starts from US$20,000 (RM60,000).
HP StoreAll Storage prices start from US$0.91 (RM2.73) per gigabyte while pricing for the latest HP StoreOnce2000 Backup begins at US$10,000 (RM30,000), while the starting price for the 4000 model is US$25,000 (RM75,000).
