Six-year-old William Yau Zhen Zhong has been cremated even as theories and allegations abound over what happened to him. Police have formed a task force to investigate his disappearance and death which have absorbed the whole nation. In the meantime, they appealed to the public not to jump to conclusions or speculate.

KLANG: Twelve days after his mysterious disappearance, the body of William Yau Zhen Zhong was returned to his parents at the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital mortuary here.

Yau Kok Kang, 32, and his wife Goh Ying Ying, 26, arrived at the mortuary at 10.20am yesterday to collect their son’s body.

Goh was seen clutching a joss stick while her husband held an effigy made from paper in the shape of a little boy to perform prayers.

The couple was tearful as Yau held his arms around his petite wife to comfort her as they went through the necessary paperwork. Several uniformed officers were on hand to assist the couple.

An hour later, Yau helped carry the coffin, wrapped in gold cloth and Chinese writings, into the hearse.

They left immediately for the crematorium in Jelutong, Malacca without speaking to reporters who had gathered at the mortuary as early as 7am.

The release of the body yesterday comes after the DNA report confirmed that it was William.

Subang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Yahaya Ramli said the hair and bone specimens provided by the parents as DNA samples matched the body.
