Glamour in the night best describes the Rizalman Haute Couture 20133 collection.

IF thethere’s one local designer whose collecollection is eagerly anticipated, it wouwould be Rizalman Ibrahim. Before the collecollection was even shown, it had already genegenerated a buzz mainly from Rizalman posting sneak previews on social media.

At the fashion show for his Haute Couture 2013 collectiocollection recently, it was nothing less than a splendid didsplendid visuvisual feast with the use of a rich colour palette of blackblack, white, gold and a splash of emerald.

InspirInspired by a creative stroll back in time to when the moomoonlight hit the French boudoirs at midnight in Paris, ththe concept of the whole collection is definitely simple aand classy with the idea that less is always more.

PepluPeplum tops and dresses, mermaid skirts, lace kebayakebayas and the modern kurung were the silhouettes ettessilhouettes oof choice showcasing the modern simplicity of the cuts. This made the complex detailing stand out mmore.

MMaterials used included French lace, silks, crecrepe chiffon and velvet and when combined witwith the chosen colours, it gave a rich and extravagant extA look to the designs.

Among the pieces that stood out was a black gown with emerald green trimmings and a dazzling zlingdazzling gold and black number with an almost cobwebby webbycobwebby effect on the sleeves. There were also one-ofaa-ofa-kind bbib necklaces worn with some of the outfits. These wwere gorgeous enough by themselves and definitedefinitely something you’d want to wear with the rest of your wwardrobe for an added touch of glamour.

The ppeplum effect was in full glory in a black velvet gown wwhere it came in ruffled tiers. A peacock brooch with gregreen feathers on a structured number made for an ininteresting effect while a diamond patterned kebaya hhad an intricate necklace which could have clashed but somehow melded together in harmony.

EmbeEmbellished with a range of Swarovski crystals, spikes aand studs, mother of pearl, precious gemstones stonesgemstones aas well as colourful beads, it really takes on an avavant garde persona as it is also combined with jadjade feathers and patches of lace.

The cocombination of textures and materials made eaeach piece stand-out and this elegant collectiocollection showcases the perfect cut and craftsmanship manshipcraftsmanship that Rizalman is known for. An overall alloverall oustaoustanding collection from a designer who has alwaalways made an impression.
