Cars up for grabs

Three grand prizes await lucky visitors to the Kuala Lumpur Internatio­nal Motor Show 2013.

PETALING JAYA: Visitors to the Kuala Lumpur Internatio­nal Motor Show 2013 (KLIMS13) in November will have an opportunit­y to win three cars in a lucky draw. Two hybrid cars, namely the Toyota Prius Luxury 1.8L and the Honda CR-Z, are the grand prizes.

For Maybank customers visiting KLIMS13, they also stand a chance to win a Volkswagen Beetle 2.0L TSI.

KLIMS13, themed “Efficiency in Motion”, is organised by the Malaysian Automotive Associatio­n (MAA) and managed by Interexpo (M) Sdn Bhd.

“KLIMS is back again this year to fuel the automotive industry as well as Malaysia’s calendar of tourism events,” said MAA president Datuk Aishah Ahmad during the motor show’s advertisin­g and promotion campaign launch here yesterday.

The motor show’s advertisin­g and promotion campaign is valued at RM7mil. The Star is the official media partner.

AirAsia is the motor show’s official airline while Maybank is the official financial partner.

The motor show will exhibit a range of cars, motorcycle­s, commercial vehicles and concept machines.

Exhibitors will include Citroen, Daihatsu, Ford, Honda, Hyundai, Infiniti, Isuzu, Lexus, Nissan, Perodua, Peugeot, Subaru, Toyota and Volkswagen.

About 330,000 visitors are expected at the motor show which will be held from Nov 15 to 24 at the Putra World Trade Centre.

Entrance fees will be RM15 for adults on weekdays and RM20 on weekends, and RM5 for children 12 years and below on weekdays and weekends.

There is also a family package of RM30 on weekdays and RM40 on weekends for families with up to five children.

The launching ceremony was opened by Tourism and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz.

On a separate matter, Nazri said his ministry is asking for an increase in allocation from Budget 2014, which is slated to be tabled in the Dewan Rakyat on Oct 25.

He pointed out that last year, Malaysia had over 25 million tourist arrivals, which brought in over RM60bil in tourism revenue and made Malaysia the world’s 10th most popular tourism destinatio­n.

“This year, we are aiming for 26 million tourist arrivals and RM65bil in tourism revenue,” he said.
