Woman loses RM40,000 in smash-and-grab robbery

KUANTAN: A businesswo­man lost RM40,000 to two armed robbers on a motorcyle who smashed her car window before grabbing a handbag containing the money.

The victim, aged 46, suffered cuts on her left hand from the glass splinters.

The incident occurred outside her home in Air Putih at about 3pm on Tuesday.

She had earlier withdrawn the money from a bank in Jalan Beserah.

Upon reaching her house, the robbers confronted her and smashed the left window of her Perodua Myvi with a hammer.

They fled with her handbag containing the money, a cheque book and other personal belongings.

It is learnt that the robbers had trailed the victim from the bank to her house.

In another case, passers-by caught a man who molested and allegedly tried to rape a 22year-old woman.

The incident occurred when the woman was walking alone along Jalan Mat Kilau at about 1.30am on Tuesday.

The suspect waylaid the victim and dragged her into an empty building, where he assaulted and groped her.

The terrified victim screamed for help, drawing passers-by to the scene who caught the suspect and handed him over to the police.

Pahang Deputy CID chief Supt Mohd Haris Daud confirmed both incidents.
