Deputy editor Kalimuthoo Kattan, who is also known as Elamani, said the attack occurred on the same day that Thinakural carried an exclusive report suggesting that leaders of an Indian political party had been purchasing another road, closer to home, four men on two motorcycles began following me.

“They kicked my bike, shouting at me, asking me to stop. They also used a long stick to hit me on my arms and shoulders,” he said at a press conference at his office here yesterday.

Kalimuthoo said the assailants lost control of their motorcycles when trying to kick him, and he managed to escape.

He lodged a report at the Sungai Buloh police station.

“I believe this attack is related to the political reports we have been publishing lately,” said Kalimuthoo.

An exclusive report carried by the paper on Tuesday mentioned that several party leaders had shown interest in buying Audi cars and questioned how these leaders, who were not named in the report, could afford them.

Sungai Buloh OCPD Supt Junaidi Bujang confirmed the case, adding that it was being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code for causing hurt.
