EPF money credited into bank account

-

THE Employees Provident Fund (EPF) refers to the letter “Still waiting for EPF reply” ( The Star, Sept 23), with regards to the plight of Anne Lee who claimed that she did not make a withdrawal from her EPF account in 1998 and did not receive the money which had been credited into her bank account.

Even though the EPF is not legally obliged to take action on any dispute or claim pertaining to any EPF withdrawal after a six-year period, as a customer-focused organisation, we are making efforts to assist her by conducting an investigation into this case. Bank Simpanan Nasional, Seremban has confirmed that the cheque of her withdrawal had been cleared and credited into her bank account.

Our record shows that the money was credited on Jan 27,1998.

Therefore, the EPF would also like to advise the member to check with the bank on this matter.

Generally, active members who contribute to their EPF accounts consistently, including Lee, would have received their account statements annually from the EPF.

We would like to take this opportunity to remind all members to check their EPF savings on a regular basis and seek our immediate assistance should there be any discrepancies in their accounts.

It is vital that members are well aware of the status of their EPF savings from the onset. NIK AFFENDI JAAFAR General Manager Public Relations Employees Provident Fund
