Mastermind behind Najadi’s murder identified

KUALA LUMPUR: Barely four days after nabbing alleged killer Sei Ngan Chai (four-eyed guy in Cantonese), police have identified the person who hired the hitman to murder AmBank founder Hussain Ahmad Najadi.

Sources revealed that police would be arresting the mastermind soon following the arrest of the alleged hitman in Taiping on Monday.

“We are just waiting for the right time to arrest him.

“Our investigat­ions have led us to him,” the source said.

It is learnt that police have yet to recover the weapon used to murder Najadi in Lorong Ceylon here on July 29.

Police arrested Sei Ngan Chai in a house at Larut Tin Tambahan in Taiping on Monday after a three-month hunt.

The 44-year-old man is being remanded at the Kuala Lumpur police headquarte­rs until tomorrow.

He was brought to the murder scene to assist with the investigat­ions on Thursday.

Najadi, 75, was gunned down in front of the Kuan Yin Temple in Lorong Ceylon shortly after a meeting over a land deal worth RM40mil.

The temple occupies a portion of the land that was being negotiated for sale.

Najadi was neither a buyer nor seller in the deal but was there to ensure that the temple would not be sold or demolished.
