A touch of J-League professionalism for M-League

-

PETALING JAYA: The M-League is all set to receive the J-League touch as FA of Malaysia (FAM) have confirmed that they have been in touch with their Japanese FA (JFA) in their bid to privatise the M-League.

FAM general-secretary Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin revealed that they have spoken to JFA and J-League officials for a collaboration and said that the M-League will be similar with J-League in its structure.

In April, FAM had announced that they would privatise the M-League in 2016 and set up the M- League privatisation committee to ensure a smooth transition from the current system of FAM running the M-League to a neutral body handling the whole league.

Hamidin said that a Tri-partite contract will be signed between FAM, JFA and J-League from Oct 21-23 and a workshop will be held for the M-League teams during the period.

“We have met the officials from JFA and JLeague twice in the last two months,” said Hamidin, yesterday.

“In the three-day event, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) will be signed. A workshop will also be conducted by J-League officials who will share their expertise with the M-League sides.

“We will not only be talking about the JLeague but also the collaboration that will ease the transfers of our young players to Japan and the technical transfer between both FAs.”

Meanwhile, FAM competitions committee chairman Datuk Affandi Hamzah announced that all players and officials will have to declare their assets next season.

Affandi added that the committee will conduct early checks on the stadiums which are not involved in the Malaysia Cup and announced that team registrations for the MLeague will be from Sept 1-30, while the players and team officials’ registration is from Oct 1-Dec 4.

“We have prepared forms for the players and officials to fill up. These forms will be sent to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission,” said Affandy after a competitions committee meeting at Wisma FAM yesterday.

“The early check on the stadium will ensure that local council and the state FAs have enough time to repair the stadiums if there is any problem.”
