University students look forward to meeting CEOs
KUALA LUMPUR: University students are excited about the possibility of meeting corporate figures during lectures in an initiative under the Malaysia Education Blueprint 2015 to 2025 (Higher Education).
Universiti Malaya (UM) law student Kalaivaanan Murty, 22, said it was a good initiative by the Education Ministry.
“One of the most positive parts of the blueprint is bringing in corporate figures to the universities to lecture. It’s wonderful and will enable university students to get closer to these figures and interact with them,” he said.
UM second-year medical student Mohd Izhar Ishak, 21, said the blueprint was important.
“The blueprint is relevant because our generation is the one that will be leading the country in 10 to 15 years,” he said.
Mohd Izhar said he liked the focus on Quality Technical Vocation and Education and Training (TVET), and talent excellence under the blueprint.
“Although I’m a science student, I enjoy inventing things, which is the vocational side of things,” he added.
Describing the blueprint as ambitious, Saidatulyuniaah Md Yunus, 19, of Negri Sembilan Matriculation College said it was what both the students and country needed.
“I am positive about the blueprint,” she said, adding that she wanted to become an engineering lecturer.
On the CEO Faculty Programme, Saidatulyuniaah said it was an interesting concept.
“It will provide good exposure to students on what is entrepreneurial,” she added.
Her college mate Ooi Kai Shen, 19, said the blueprint would be a challenge as it was all about transforming education.
“As students, we’re affected. At the same time, we all know that everything can’t be perfect,” said Ooi, who is also the college’s student council representative.
