Azmin takes BN to task over identical questions
SHAH ALAM: Selangor Mentri Besar Azmin Ali took to task two Barisan Nasional assemblymen for submitting identical questions for him at the state legislative assembly.
“I can understand two members raising the same issue but to do it using the same script, I don’t understand,’’ said Azmin in his winding up debate on the motion of thanks for Selangor Ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah’s royal address.
The two, Kuang assemblyman Datuk Abdul Shukur Idrus, who was absent, and Hulu Bernam assemblyman Datuk Rosni Sohar, had submitted the same question requesting information on the management and administration of the mentri besar’s office.
Azmin also queried, in a tongue in cheek manner, if the question did indeed come from the assemblymen or from an ‘outside’ source.
“It was spontaneous and not planned. There isn’t a need to make a big issue out of it,’’ retorted Rosni.
Azmin also took a dig at his predecessor Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim, who was not present in the house, and said that he should be there to air his grouses.
“Don’t stay at home and criticise the administration through Facebook and blogs.
“An assemblyman who wants to give suggestions or criticise must do it in the assembly,’’ said Azmin.
Don’t stay at home and criticise the administration through Facebook and blogs. An assemblyman who wants to give suggestions or criticise must do it at the assembly — AZMIN ALI
He said he was disappointed that Khalid, who is Port Klang assemblyman, was using the media to attack him.
Azmin also spoke on the goods and services tax (GST) and brushed aside Shamsudin Lias’ (Sungai Burung-BN) assertion that not all essential goods had the tax imposed and not all businesses were required to be GST compliant.
Azmin said one had to pay GST for a plate of white rice regardless of whether one eats it at a hotel or a stall.
He said even if the stall did not fall within the bracket to be GST compliant, the operator would have purchased his products from those who were paying the goods and services tax.
