We stand with the Prime Minister

- DATUK S. GOPINATH President, 1Mine

WHY is our Prime Minister answerable to so many questions when 1MDB is still being audited, and at his directive? We should wait for the full report and not be judgmental about it without solid proof.

Questions and clarifications about the murder of the Mongolian model should be directed to the Inspector-General of Police and the Home Ministry instead of the Prime Minister.

Millions of ringgit have been released to fund the development of Tamil schools under his leadership and I have not seen any other Prime Minister who has worked so closely with the rakyat.

He made the most number of visits to different ethnic groups and his visits show endorsement and recognition. The 1Malaysia concept was founded by him – a reflection of his concern for a united Malaysia.

Under his leadership the country has seen tremendous development in infrastructure, especially in the field of public transportation.

He has initiated many public transportation projects to enhance the rakyat’s mobility and to tackle the never ending traffic jams in Kuala Lumpur and other states.

The implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) that was approved by the Cabinet, was unavoidable.

The Prime Minister also introduced BR1M to lessen the burden of the lower income group. It shows that he understands and strives toward providing a better living.

I propose that the Prime Minister bring back the National Unity Ministry (Kementerian Perpaduan) that was once headed by the late Tun V.T. Sambanthan.

This is crucial as it looks like we are not united, be it racially or politically – everyone seems to have their own agenda.

My other personal request to the Prime Minister is to include in his upcoming Budget an allocaton for the Rakyat CSR for research on solving common problems.

I believe the Prime Minister has to focus on other priorities and if we wish to see the country prosper and progress in peace, we should support and nurture, not criticise and condemn.

1MINE stands strong with the governing party and its leader – we are here to work towards a better future without prejudice.
