READY to abandon bad habits and reach a whole new level of fitness? Now you can get the lowdown on the latest health and wellness trends at the upcoming FitForLife Penang fair this Oct 16-18.

Introduced for the first time up north, the event is an extension of the FitForLife annual fair in Kuala Lumpur. It will be held at the Spice Arena in Bayan Lepas, Penang.

If you’ve been searching for a quick recipe to achieve that flat tummy or just looking for express workout programmes to fit into your hectic schedule, FitForLife Penang is the place to be — visitors will get to enjoy a variety of fitness, health and lifestyle products and services under one roof.

There will be exhibitions, health and lifestyle talks and exciting stage activities, with cash prizes to be won.

Among the highlights of the event is the Live Great Dodgeball Open tournaments. Dodgeball clinics will also be conducted for those who want to know more about the exciting sport, which is sure to appeal to the younger crowd.

FitForLife Penang is organised by The Star, with Great Eastern Life (GE) as its event partner for the fifth time running.

It will continue to carry the theme “Get Fit. Live Great” – reflecting The Star’s and GE’s commitment and common goal to promote a healthy lifestyle among Malaysians.

GE’s director and chief executive officer Datuk Koh Yaw Hui hopes that the fair will help encourage Malaysians to live longer, healthier, and better.

“It’s no longer enough to just have the fair in KL. That’s why we’re moving on to other states so that we can reach out to all Malaysians to get them started on healthy living,” he says.

While there is a growing trend among Malaysians towards living a healthier lifestyle, Koh says it is still a challenge to solidify the message amongst the general public.

He hopes that the fair will help “turn good intentions into action” when it comes to living healthy.

“Malaysians are now more aware than ever that having good health is important. Getting a cure for any kind of sickness is becoming very expensive. We want to encourage people to live healthily not just for themselves, but also for their families.

“Whether you’re a father or a wife, there is only one of you. You need to take good care of yourself because there are others who look towards you for support,” he says. FitForLife 2015 is organised by The Star with Great Eastern Life as the event partner. It will be held in Spice Arena, Bayan Lepas from Oct 16-18, 11am to 7pm. Admission is free.
