Rival youth wings lodge reports over article

-

PETALING JAYA: The youth wings of Perkasa and PKR have each lodged conflicting reports over the Wall Street Journal article that claims 1MDB funds were channelled to bank accounts in the Prime Minister’s name.

While Perkasa Youth lodged a report against WSJ for slandering Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, PKR Youth lodged a report against Najib over the same article.

Perkasa Youth chief Irwan Fahmi Idris said it was not just Najib’s good name that was at stake but the nation’s as well.

“I know this issue has garnered a lot of attention, especially from the international media.

“We want to get to the truth of the matter,” he said after lodging a report at the Dang Wangi police station.

Meanwhile, PKR Youth chief Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad said it would be good for Najib to go on leave while investigations were ongoing.

“If the allegations by WSJ and Sarawak Report are false, then Najib should sue them.

“However, if Najib does not deny the allegation, he has no choice but to resign,” he said in a statement.

“This allegation is very serious although Malaysians are ‘used to’ various corruption scandals and leakages.”
