Security guard found slashed to death in alley

-

IPOH: A 45-year-old security guard was found dead at an alley in Laluan Klebang Restu near here. He had seven slash wounds on his head and arms.

The body was discovered at about noon yesterday.

ACP Sum Chang Keong said the victim, known only as Gobinathan, was believed to be buying some things at a nearby shop when he was attacked by a parang-wielding man.

“As he exited the shop, he was attacked,” said ACP Sum.

“The assailant continued to slash him as he tried to run to the alley, about 80m from the shop,” he said.

“There was a trail of blood leading to the victim’s body that was found near a drain,” he added.

ACP Sum said police believed that there was another suspect waiting at the alley during the attack.

“Witnesses saw the parang-wielding suspect escape on a motorcycle,” he said.

ACP Sum ruled out robbery as the motive and believed it was murder.

“If it was armed robbery, the suspect would have not chased after the victim,” he said.

“We are still trying to identify the motive behind the murder and are in the midst of looking for more witnesses.”
